What if club music stopped offering escape?
Born in Birkenhead and raised in the Scottish Highlands, Glasgow-based artist KAVARI has spent years pulling electronic music apart and rebuilding it into something stranger. Jungle, drum & bass, dubstep, noise, industrial electronics and ethereal atmospheres collide in music that feels less deconstructed than assembled from incompatible parts - a Frankenstein’s monster with a pulse of its own.
Her latest release, PLAGUE MUSIC, pushes this approach into darker territory: a world in decay, where abrasive sound design meets breath, movement, field recordings and warped fragments of the familiar. Rhythm becomes physical, but never predictable; intensity is coupled with vulnerability, menace with an almost exaggerated vitality.
KAVARI’s refusal of established electronic music conventions has earned her a devoted following in the UK underground and early support from artists including Aphex Twin, Flume and Yeule. But her music is not simply dark or aggressive. There is something playful, excessive and almost camp in the way it spills beyond its own borders.
At Three Skies, KAVARI brings her live audiovisual show to Cologne: club music as mutation, ritual and unruly new life.
